This week in The Cheat Code, we take you on the atypical career of Matthieu Pacaud, a lawyer who decided to reinvent his way of practicing... and his life at the same time.
From the firm to the company: the beginnings
After a short experience in a firm, a collaboration that did not last even a year, Matthieu branched out into the business world. He joined the Groupement des Mousquetaires, where he negotiated contracts. Quickly, he realizes that it is not made for him. What he likes is contact, creation, movement.
The trigger: become the lawyer for start-ups
In 2015, it was the trigger: he noticed that no lawyer really addressed start-ups.
He then decided to create his own website, with a clear desire: to stand out, to be modern, to break the codes of the profession.
The turning point of detachment
In 2019, his business was going well. He supports customers, develops his presence... and this is where an unexpected event changes everything, in a good sense of the word.
A recruitment agency contacts him for a specific mission: to replace a lawyer in a company.
What was supposed to last a few months became a full-time activity, and Matthieu discovered the detachment model. A revelation.
COVID, a catalyst for a new way of life
Then COVID arrives.
He is starting to find customers via the Malt platform, in full remote. And now, one thing is obvious: he no longer wants to return to Paris.
He wants to work differently, remotely, while traveling, without ever losing the link with his customers.
His model appeals to him: his target, mostly composed of start-ups, is fully committed to this way of working.
Where a more traditional clientele could have been cautious, hers sees on the contrary a real added value.
