Ordalie, the new ChatGPT for lawyers?

Not so long ago we wrote an article on using ChatGPT as a lawyer. An article already overtaken by new arrivals in the sector 😱? It is still worth a read. And in case you missed it, there is a newcomer in the world of AI for lawyers that may well be talked about in the coming months: Ordalie.ia.

What Ordalie is

The idea is simple: answer every question you have on French law so as to help you in your work. Concretely the tool saves you time on research and on drafting contracts, because Ordalie writes them in full for you.

Ordalie's AI bases its answers directly on reading and analysing the articles of French statute. On paper, no surprise there.

What does it cost?

The model stays fairly close to what ChatGPT offers.

• A free version offering a "basic" AI, quickly limited in the number of searches. A good way to discover the tool before really committing.
• The PRO version, an "advanced" AI with unlimited searches. Above all, the ability to analyse imported documents, summarise them or question them. Also the ability to generate all your contracts. So, is it better than ChatGPT?

No invented answers at Ordalie

You have all met the ChatGPT that announces an answer confidently and will not budge, when you know perfectly well it is wrong. In AI that is called a hallucination: the chatbot has no data on the question, or conflicting information, and panics, giving false information convinced it is true. Ordalie promises a 0% hallucination rate.

A specialist AI > a general AI

What is more, Ordalie sticks to French law. When an AI is specialised, it is easier to make it competent on a particular subject: there is far less data to handle than for a "general" AI. So you can expect answers that are far more precise and truthful than ChatGPT. Ordalie also commits to keeping the data up to date.

The ability to save your documents, challenge them, edit them

Got a few document templates on a Google Drive fighting it out? Ordalie keeps the documents it drafts (and lets you add your own) and improves or personalises them for each client. So it is extremely interesting for every lawyer producing large numbers of contracts, enough to save hours for business lawyers.

API: bring the tool into your own

If you want to bring the tool into your own applications, Ordalie can connect to them through an API key. You can easily picture legal documents generated automatically from databases. We have not tried it, but our guess is that you could have prospects fill in a questionnaire and let Ordalie generate a personalised contract automatically and send it to them (through automation tools such as Make). We will be looking into it.

Confidentiality

Finally, one of Ordalie's promises is respect for your data. A vital question for lawyers, and the site commits to the confidentiality of your information.

Encouraging promises at a fairly accessible price, and above all a free version with no time limit. Worth comparing with what the giant Doctrine will offer with its generative AI, currently in testing.
