Marlone Zard's path
After business school and a spell in mergers and acquisitions at a well-known boutique, Marlone quickly realised the work was not for him. Too cyclical, too exhausting: he came close to burnout.
The turning point came almost by chance one day, when he went with a friend to an employment tribunal conciliation hearing. He tells it like this:
"The lawyer had a real role: pleading, fighting for their client. Behind every case there was a person. And right there I thought: that is what I want to do."
So he dropped everything to create his own firm, Howard, with a clear idea: to help the people who, like him, are going through burnout or a toxic relationship with their employer. For six months he trained intensively in employment law and put all his energy into the new project.
The early days and the climb
At first Marlone found his clients only through word of mouth. Very quickly he launched a website. But his real stroke of genius was to build in from the start a system of transparent fixed prices at a time (2017) when most lawyers' sites were simple shop windows.
He then bet on digital communication (social media, organic search, paid search) to make his approach known. The result: the first leads came in fast.
The firm grew, Marlone hired a first colleague, then others as the cases came in. Today Howard brings together around ten lawyers in Paris, with offices in Nantes and Lille too.
